CSS Styles - What is this?

The Wikipedia article defines CSS as:

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a stylesheet language used to describe the presentation of a document written in a markup language. Its most common application is to style web pages written in HTML and XHTML, but the language can be applied to any kind of XML document, including SVG and XUL.

CSS is a common used tool for Web Developers and Designers. It allows them to define the styles, colors, fonts and images that will be displayed on a web site, and allows them to make broad changes to a web site in one single file.

For example: On our site, Lynx Technical Solutions, we have 3 different CSS files created. Each file contains information on the header, background and menu images, as well as color schemes for our font. By changing which theme, using the drop down at the bottom of each screen, you are changing which CSS file our web site is using.

We couldn't decide which web design layout we preferred the most for our web site, so we used all three. Select the one you prefer from the drop down at the bottom and as you navigate through our pages, that style will be remembered. We also save that style type to a cookie on your machine so that next time you visit us, the same style will be used. (All we store in the cookie is theme style number)
